Neuropsychology//
Neuropsychology is a subspeciality within clinical psychology that bridges the gap between neurology and psychology.
Based on the biopsychosocial model of understanding human behavior, neuropsychologists use standardized tests to assess brain function and dysfunction and then provide information intended to aid in continuing treatment, management, caregiving, and safety.
Neuropsychologists are not treating providers (i.e., They do not prescribe medication, etc.), but they are an essential part of the treatment team.
Our team of ANA neuropsychologists serves young adult, adult, and geriatric individuals and their families who are experiencing a wide range of neurologic and psychiatric conditions, including:
-
Dementia syndromes such as Alzheimer’s disease
-
Acquired injuries, such as cerebrovascular accident and traumatic brain injury
-
Medical conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and autoimmune diseases
-
Neurodevelopmental conditions, such as learning and attentional disorders
-
Pre- and post- neurosurgical and nerve stimulation assessments, including pain assessment for spinal cord stimulators
-
Mood-related cognitive disorders
-
Legal, disability evaluations, and workers’ compensation
They are passionate about the work they do and aim to help more individuals within our community get accurate diagnoses and effective treatment.
